The process began with the concept. How do you brand a healthy alternative to soda without losing the interest of your target market against big name soda brands. People love animals, & with the monk fruit alternative to sugar, I played with the name of the substitute to create the brand itself. Monkey fruit is an alternative natural soda that focuses on preserving the rainforest, with a different colorful illustration of an animal in its habitat to go with each flavor. Out of that came the catchphrase: Save the rainforest with every sip. This incentivises the target market to drink healthier while feeling good about the conservation they are taking part in by choosing this brand over soda conglomerates.

Branding a soda doesn’t end with the logo & bottle designs. How do you advertise this product? How will people buy it? I ended up focusing on a few deliverables to help answer these questions. While the bottles are bright & colorful, the packaging for buying multiples of the soda would be natural colors of the rainforest to not clash with the contrasting color palettes. Along with purchasing the product in stores, you can buy the soda from distributors who sell out of branded bikes at concerts & fairies where conservation-interested people might be thirsty. Illustrations of the animals can also be repurposed for colorful posters advertising specific flavors, & wearable merchandise like t-shirts interest consumers while also being a great mode of advertising products.
